What is in-app ordering?
In-app ordering allows you to order and pay with the Macca's app. You can also browse the menu, reorder, and get exclusive deals and MyMacca’s Rewards.
Where is in-app ordering available?
In-app ordering is available via the Macca's app in the following McDonald’s restaurants: Ashburton, Britomart, Greenlane, Grey Lynn, Hawera, Ormiston, Papamoa, Pt. Chev, Quay Street, Queen Street, Te Awamutu, and will be available in all participating McDonald’s restaurants by the end of 2025.
How do I know if I can use in-app ordering in my area, or at my favourite Macca’s?
All participating Macca's restaurants will appear in the Macca's app and will allow you to place an order.
What menu items are available for in-app ordering?
All the menu items available in the kiosk at the restaurant you’re ordering from will be available through in-app ordering. The menu items will be displayed based on your selection in the Breakfast, Regular or Overnight menu. Some items are time restricted, so may not be available.
Is there a minimum number of items I need to order?
No, you can choose and order just one single menu item or add your favourites to create your own customised meals.
How do I redeem an app deal through in-app ordering?
To redeem a deal, go to the deals page in the app and select your deal. Then you’ll be able to select ‘Add to app order’.
Can I add a deal to my in-app order?
Yes, you can add one Macca's app deal to your in-app order. Simply go back to the Deals page, choose your deal, and select ‘Add to app order’. You can choose as many items from the menu as you like however, there is a limit of one app deal or reward per transaction.
Can I change my order?
You can edit and remove the items in your bag, up until you confirm and pay for your order.
Can I cancel my order?
No. However, if you select Drive Thru your order will be cancelled and refunded if you don't pick it up within 2 hours.
Can I place multiple in-app orders?
Yes, you can place multiple orders at a time for any restaurant, as long as each order is finalised prior to starting your next order.
How do I pick up my order?
When you arrive at Macca’s, you will need to read out your order number at your chosen pick-up location.
If you have chosen Drive Thru as your pick-up option, we’ll start preparing your order when you arrive and read out your code. Collect your order within two hours, so it doesn’t get cancelled.
Can I place my order to a restaurant now and pick it up later?
If you order to pick up at the front counter or table delivery, your order will be made immediately when your order is placed.
If you order to pick up at the drive thru, your order will not be officially confirmed and prepared at the restaurant until you arrive and read out your order number. Once you have finalised your order in the app, your order number will be valid for 2 hours.
What type of payment cards can I register to use with in-app ordering?
You can register your Visa or Mastercard. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also available on the Macca’s app.
Is there a charge to register a payment card for in-app ordering?
No, Macca’s does not charge for card registration.
When you register a payment card to use with MyMacca’s in-app ordering, McDonald’s third-party provider sends an authentication request to your payment card issuer. This request may be reflected as a temporary transaction on your account. For most card brands, this is a temporary $0 transaction; however, use of some payment card brands may reflect a temporary $1 transaction that is subsequently reversed. Each card issuer and payment card brand is different, so please check with your payment card issuer for more information.
How do I add, remove, and edit my payment card information?
To add or remove payment card, click ‘More’ in your Macca’s app. Then select ‘MyMacca’s Account’ and go to the ‘Payment Options’. There you can add a new payment method or remove an existing one. At this time, we do not allow editing of payment card information, so if you’ve made a mistake, you’ll have to delete it and then add it again.
Who charges my payment card when I complete an order?
The McDonald’s restaurant that completes your order is the merchant of record.You will be emailed a receipt of purchase, to the email you provided on your MyMacca’s account after payment is completed.
What if I have an issue with a payment or want a refund?
Please contact your bank if you have any questions about charges reflected on your payment card statement (for example, errors, or duplicate charges). To dispute a Macca’s transaction for a duplicate charge on your debit or credit card, you need to follow-up with your bank or credit card provider, and they will take the appropriate action.Also, please be sure to view the receipt we emailed you after your purchase.
How do I get a receipt for my order?
You will receive an email receipt to the email account you signed up with for the Macca’s App once your order has been completed at the restaurant and payment has been charged.
Are the prices in the app the same for all restaurant locations?
Many of our restaurants are operated by independent franchisees, so some menu item prices may vary.
What account info can I access in the Macca's app?
You can access the personal information you’ve provided (name, email, gender and date of birth) under ‘MyMacca’s Account’ in the ’More’ menu. You can also view your payment information, past orders, and favourites (menu items, orders and restaurants).
Can I save my previous orders, favourite menu items and local restaurants?
If you’ve ordered through the app before, your most recent orders will appear at the top of the order screen for you to easily reorder your faves again.
Can I reorder my most recent order?
If you’ve purchased through the app before, yes, you can reorder your faves again. Click order on the app menu and your most recent orders will appear at the top of your screen.
What happens to my deal or reward if my order gets cancelled?
In the event that you don’t complete your order within 2 hours and your order is cancelled, your app deals and rewards will be available to redeem again in the Rewards and Deals page in your app. Be quick to redeem your reward though, because it will only stay there for 60 days after which time it will expire.
Why won’t the app allow me to add my Deal or Reward to my app order?
There are two possible reasons for this;
You already have a deal or reward in your bag, there is a limit of one deal or reward per transaction.
OR
You have previously tried to redeem the deal or reward in-restaurant and either removed it from your cart or not completed your order. In this case, it will only be available to redeem in-restaurant and will not be available to add to your app order.
Why am I seeing an error message about my payment card?
If your payment card is declined or if there is another issue with your payment card, you will receive an error message. If this happens, please select another payment method or contact your bank or card provider for more information.
