Why McDonald's?

We’ve worked hard to increase choice on our menu, as well as make some of your favourites healthier. Here’s just a brief selection of some of the menu changes we’ve made over the last few years.

  • We changed our cooking oil to a heart-healthy blend of sunflower and canola oil, which is lower in saturated fat than other commercial frying oils, and virtually trans fat free, so items like Filet-O-Fish® and Chicken McNuggets® contain 60% less saturated fat than they did six years ago
  • Our burger buns contain 40% less sugar than they did in 2006
  • We introduced healthier menu items such as salads and seared (not fried) chicken in our wraps, with high fibre tortillas
  • Sprite® has been replaced with its sugar free equivalent, Sprite Zero®, and we also offer a selection of diet drinks or bottled water as part of our meals
  • More than 50% of Happy Meals sold now include a healthier choice such as apple slices or bottled water
